A half-landing with a window, a boiler cupboard and no obvious use. Getting an ensuite and a cloakroom out of it meant drawing the pipework before anything else, because there was exactly one route the soil pipe could take and it decided where both doors went.
The ensuite is 1.6m wide. A wet-room shower takes the far end behind a slim brass screen, the basin sits on a painted shelf 340 deep, and the wall behind is chalk plaster rather than tile so the room does not feel lined. The cloakroom next door gets the window and one wall of deep green glazed tile.
Small rooms are not smaller versions of big ones. They are their own problem, and mostly a plumbing one.
