Four extensions across two centuries, none of them square, and floors that fall 40mm across the kitchen. The first fortnight was measuring, and the drawings carry the falls rather than pretending they are not there.
The kitchen sits in the oldest part, under the beams, with a scribed plinth and a run that steps down 12mm halfway along where the floor does. Nobody notices. The boot room takes the new end, near the yard, with a stone floor and a drain in it. Both bathrooms are upstairs in the 1890s wing, one in green tile and one in plain white, sharing a soil stack and nothing else.
Fourteen weeks on site, and the family stayed in the house for all of them.
